This home sits in a virtual forest of nearly 13 acres within the town of Sand Springs, just minutes away from downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. The owners had very specific requests that the home be both modern and appear rooted in the Oklahoma soil, and conjoin with the primeval surroundings. The result is a structure with very broad roof overhangs to protect against the harsh Midwest sun and powerful storms, large expanses of glass to invite nature within, and local Oklahoma sandstone and galvanized metal roofs reflective of area rural structures. Exposed solid timber beams support a soaring shed roof over the central living/dining room, providing a towering wall of glass to survey the urban forest and its many wild inhabitants from deer, raccoons, and coyotes to a bonanza of fowl.
